Use this Xbox Controller Tester to check an Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox Elite, or compatible XInput controller in your browser. Connect it with USB, Bluetooth, or an Xbox Wireless Adapter, then press a button to check live button states, D-pad inputs, analog-stick axes, and trigger travel.
Test your Xbox controller now. No download or account is required.
What the Xbox Controller Tester shows
The tester reads the controller inputs exposed to your browser. It can help confirm a missed button press, an uneven LT or RT trigger, or a stick that reports movement while untouched. It does not fix drift, recalibrate the hardware, update firmware, or measure complete game-and-display input lag.

How to test an Xbox controller online
- Connect the controller by a data-capable USB cable, Bluetooth, or Xbox Wireless Adapter.
- Keep the page visible and press A or the Xbox button.
- Test A, B, X, Y, LB, RB, View, Menu, L3, R3, and every D-pad direction.
- Squeeze LT and RT slowly from rest to full travel.
- Move both sticks to every edge, draw slow circles, and then leave them untouched for 10 seconds.
Xbox stick drift: practical readings
There is no universal pass/fail value because games apply different dead zones. A stable reading between 0.00 and about ±0.05 at rest is commonly a small offset to compare with the game. A repeated example such as X: 0.12 after several releases may move in games with a small dead zone. A single number does not prove a fault; repeat the same test through USB and Bluetooth and check the game where you noticed the problem.
| What you see | What to check next |
|---|---|
| Stick returns to the same offset after release | Record direction and value, then compare USB and wireless. |
| Stick jumps during a slow circle | Repeat the motion and note where the jump happens. |
| LT or RT starts above zero or stops short | Check trigger stops, profile settings, and USB behavior. |
| Input works here but not in one game | Check that game’s dead zone, control layout, and Steam Input. |
Xbox Elite controller details
Elite paddles and profile switches may repeat existing button assignments instead of appearing as separate browser inputs. Check the current profile in Xbox Accessories before treating an unmapped paddle as a broken control. Trigger stops can also intentionally shorten travel; turn off a short-trigger setting before comparing LT and RT range.
USB, Bluetooth, and Xbox Wireless Adapter
Use USB first for a wired baseline. If the controller behaves correctly by cable but not over Bluetooth, test pairing, charge level, nearby wireless interference, and the computer Bluetooth adapter. If an Xbox Wireless Adapter is available, compare that connection separately. Change one thing at a time and record the result.
Xbox controller not detected
- Click the page and press a controller button.
- Use a USB cable that supports data, not only charging.
- Close games, Steam Input, or remapping tools for a clean check.
- Disconnect other gamepads and reconnect the Xbox controller.
- Open Xbox Accessories on Windows and check for a firmware update.
- Try another USB port or a current desktop browser.
When to use Xbox Accessories
This page is useful for an independent live-input check. Xbox Accessories is the right place for supported firmware updates, profiles, paddles, and controller configuration. Confirm the symptom here, make the supported change in Xbox Accessories, then retest with the same connection.
FAQS
Does this work with Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One controllers?
It works when the computer and browser expose the standard controller inputs through USB, Bluetooth, or a compatible wireless adapter.
Can I test an Xbox Elite controller?
Yes for standard mapped inputs. Paddles and profiles can map to other controls and may need Xbox Accessories for configuration.
Can this tool fix stick drift?
No. It reads browser-visible input and cannot repair worn hardware.
Does a browser test measure input lag?
It shows whether input reaches the page, but it is not a complete latency test for the controller, connection, game, and display.
Next checks: stick drift test, controller button test, and trigger test.
